LONG-FORM WORK
Series
Core Group's long-form work, made public. Four tracks: philosophical critique, policy instrument, practice and method, long-form dialogue. Published when ready.
Polemos
Philosophical critique of the categories through which conflict is analyzed. Each issue reframes a premise (an inherited binary, a vocabulary, a periodization) that the operational analysis must otherwise treat as given. The work is regional and global in scope, written from Beirut and from the post-Ottoman space, engaging the intellectual traditions that produced our categories rather than borrowing their vocabulary.
The Luxury of Doubt
The cure for a divided world is offered most insistently to the people least able to afford it.
A reply to Carlos Fraenkel's Teaching Plato in Palestine. Fallibilism is not a neutral virtue but a purchased one: to hold a belief as revisable you must first be safe enough that being wrong costs li…
Statecraft
Policy work grounded in the firm's operational analytical practice. Essays on the statebuilding project of Lebanon, and on the making and unmaking of states in comparable conditions, written from within the constraints, not above them. Each issue does the political-economy work seriously: who benefits from current arrangements, who would lose under proposed reforms, what oversight makes the proposals defensible.
A State of Competing Shadows
How history engineered Lebanon's security apparatus to fight itself, and why sectarian survival replaced national interest
Lebanon's four intelligence directorates were built to balance sects, not to defend the state. This essay traces how French mandate bureaus hardened into sectarian fiefdoms, why each agency watches th…
Praxis
The practice examined from the inside: how human judgment and machine analysis interlock in the work, what it takes to build the instruments behind Convergence, and what each forecast and each tool teaches about the method that produced it. Where the other tracks turn outward, on conflict and on the state, this one turns in, on the craft itself.
Fee Mustawa: The right tier of intelligence
On the shifting layers of intelligence that interact and make each other
A working account of running nearly twenty specialized AI agents as a newsroom infrastructure. What each narrow tool is actually for, why matching a job to the right tier of intelligence is the whole…
MaimonidesForthcoming
Long-form video conversation. The format holds thinking that does not fit the page: sustained dialogue with interlocutors from across the region and across domains. Political theorists, historians, practitioners, scientists, religious thinkers, statesmen, dissidents. The firm hosts; the conversation is the interlocutor's.
Maimonides
The Guide for the Perplexed
Long-form video conversation
Named after the medieval philosopher who wrote The Guide for the Perplexed in Arabic while navigating exile and collapsing states.
